What was said

On Friday, September 11, a group of bikers gathered outside the Kaunas mosque in Lithuania during Friday prayers, chanting "Lithuania", playing loud music and reportedly holding up the head of a pig. RadioGenoa posted video of it that day, seen 2,432,167 times. A third post, on September 12, read the footage for the viewer: "Lithuanian motorcyclists gesture broadly at Muslims in Kaunas mosque to leave. Lithuanian motorcyclists are no joke." The first sentence says the men were telling Muslim worshippers to get out of their mosque. The second says the men mean it. The post drew about 97,181 views.

Why it counts

To leave, read into the men's gesture by the account itself, turns a scene outside a mosque into an order to Muslim people that they have no place there. The post doesn't report that as a claim by the bikers; it supplies the meaning, so the demand for the worshippers to go is the account's own reading of what should happen.

No joke settles it. It tells the reader that the threat behind the gesture is real and that the men can be counted on to follow through, which is approval of the threat and a warning to the people it was aimed at. A fair-minded reader should take the two sentences together as an expulsion demand against worshippers, endorsed by the account that posted it.
