A fire destroyed 42 shacks housing migrants in the Tarajal warehouse district of Ceuta overnight on September 10 to 11. RadioGenoa had written on September 10, "Drive them out and clean up Ceuta." On September 11, the day after the fire, it posted on X: "In Ceuta, invaders rummage through the trash like rats." The people described are migrants going through rubbish for what they can use. The post calls them an invading force and compares them to vermin. The same day the account wrote of Muslim people washing before prayer in Santa Coloma that "they wash backsides where children put mouths to drink." The post drew about 49,179 views.
Rats is the word that matters. Comparing people to vermin says they are beneath human concern and fit to be cleared out, the way vermin are. Invaders adds that they are an enemy, and the removal demand says what follows from both.
The demand settles it. Rats aren't argued with; they are removed, and the post moves from the comparison straight to the removal. A fair-minded reader should notice that the people in the sentence are going through rubbish because they have nothing, and that the post turns their poverty into the proof that they are vermin.
