What was said

On September 11, the 25th anniversary of 9/11, a four-second clip of Mayor Mamdani smiling during the reading of names at Ground Zero spread widely. Earlier that day LauraLoomer had posted on X: "You know how we can prevent another 9/11? A full time Muslim ban." She then used the clip to address Trump: "America is begging you for the Muslim ban you promised us." The ban asked for is on entry to the United States, and the people it would apply to are defined by their religion. The request is made to the head of government in the name of the whole country, and the only event offered for it is the date. The post drew 419,691 views.

Why it counts

Asking for a Muslim ban says that Muslim people, as a class, should be kept out of the country. There is no conduct in it and no individual; the sorting is by faith alone. Begging and promised make the exclusion sound like something owed to the country.

The pairing with the earlier post settles the reading. Full time means permanent, and the appeal to the President is the ask made to the one person who could deliver it. A fair-minded reader should take this as a demand for the exclusion of Muslim people by law, timed to the anniversary.
