'How many American and European girls have been raped by Muslim migrants?' assigns rape to a faith as a group.
Hundreds of Patriot Platform activists descended on Portsmouth on the night of September 6, and on September 11 a fire destroyed 42 shacks housing migrants in the Tarajal district of Ceuta. On September 11, JackPosobiec asked on X: "How many American and European girls have been raped by Muslim migrants?" The question carries no number, no case and no place. It assigns the crime to Muslim migrants as a whole class of people, defined by faith and by having moved, with girls on two continents as the victims. The post was seen 114,845 times.
Asking how many girls Muslim migrants have raped tells the reader that the answer is many, and that being a Muslim migrant is what the rapists have in common. It puts sexual violence against children on every person in the group. The question form lets the claim stand without a single fact behind it.
The reply context settles the reading. The question answers a statement about a religion, so the crime is being charged to the religion and to the people who hold it, with migration added to widen the net. A fair-minded reader should take this as an accusation of rape against Muslim people as a group, dressed as curiosity.
