Ten thousand 'invaders' in one sentence, the missing cats in the next.
On 1 September 2026, the X account RadioGenoa wrote about Ceuta, the Spanish enclave, saying "in Ceuta there are still 10000 invaders roaming freely and committing various crimes." The post added that animal welfare groups "can not find anymore many cats, seagulls, and even some dogs." The claim points at Moroccan migrants in Ceuta and suggests they are taking and eating pets, without saying so outright. It repeats a claim made earlier about Haitian people in Springfield. RadioGenoa is the one making it. The post drew 49877 impressions.
The post sets three things side by side: migrants, crime and missing animals. It never says who took the animals, and it never says eating. Put in that order, the missing-animals line invites the reading that the pet-eating accusation aimed at Haitian people in Springfield, Ohio, in 2024 has been moved to Ceuta. That reading is our inference from the juxtaposition, and the post makes no such accusation in words; what we're flagging is the juxtaposition and what it invites.
“Roaming freely and committing various crimes” makes criminality a property of ten thousand people at once, and the invader label marks every one of them as hostile before any of them has done anything.
