The Clancy mistrial, filed as evidence against women as a sex.
On 4 September 2026, Judge William Sullivan declared a mistrial in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial. The jury, nine women and three men, had deadlocked 11 to 1 for not guilty, and the defence publicly blamed a lone male holdout. The Supreme Judicial Court refused an emergency stay. That same day, the X account MyronGainesX posted that the case "just proved what I've been saying for YEARS," then said an "alarming amount of women" are, using a slur for intellectual disability, exactly that. The claim is that women as a group lack the intelligence to serve. The post drew 523,545 views.
The sentence says out loud that this is a standing view. The trial is the occasion; the claim about women was already there, and the case is recruited as its proof.
A slur for intellectual disability, aimed at women in the plural, assigns a deficit to the sex. The hedge of “an alarming amount” leaves the reader to fill in the number. Half a million views carried it.
