For several nights in Ceuta, crowds attacked migrant camps, pulled down and burned shelters, threw people's belongings into the sea, blocked Red Cross food deliveries, and organized sweeps through WhatsApp groups. It came a month after tens of thousands crossed from Morocco. Spain asked Frontex and Europol for help, while the governing coalition and the opposition blamed each other. On 26 August the X account RadioGenoa called it "a war" between "European Christians and African Muslims." On 28 August it posted "Respect for Spanish patriots in Ceuta," said the attackers "cannot be blamed," and asked followers "Do you support this action?" That post drew 551,011 views.
On its own, the sentence is empty. In the feed that published it, the referent is unmistakable: the men the account had spent the week showing in the act.
