'Barbarians' to be sent back, offered as the reason to vote.
On August 25, 2026, the European Commission refused a petition calling for "remigration," the first citizens' initiative ever turned down for breaching the Union's core values. Campaign accounts responded with court threats and a push for a million signatures for the linked Save Europe Act, which sought the removal of non-European migrants from Europe. On August 27, the account RadioGenoa posted on X that "The Germans must vote for @AfD in droves to send these barbarians back to where they came from," adding, "It is time to take back what is ours: Europe." The post drew 180,427 views.
Barbarians assigns the people shown a civilizational rank, and the sentence makes removing them the purpose of a ballot. The label and the expulsion program arrive welded together.
“Take back what is ours” recasts their presence as theft. A vote is being sold as the instrument that undoes it.
