A commentator called a style of jewelry a signal to 'primates.'
Cernovich posted that a style of jewelry, worn to signal wealth, was “subsaharan African coded” and described the intended audience as “primates.”
'Primates' applied to Black people specifically is one of the oldest dehumanization tropes there is. The word choice is no coincidence.
The post names the racial group itself (“subsaharan African coded”), so there's no separate step needed to know who the word is aimed at.
